Student-led Away Day 2023
The student-led Away Day in October 2023 focused on communication and networking. The day started with a media training session provided by Media Women, who have earned an incredible reputation preparing scientists for media communications, receiving the Royal Society Athena Prize in recent years for their first-class training.
Students were then joined by Dr Catherine Green OBE who played an important role in the development of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and has featured on many different television and radio interviews. She is also co-author, with Professor Sarah Gilbert, of the book Vaxxers: A pioneering moment in scientific history, where they describe the race to develop a vaccine to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
