The DTP programme is student-focused, and it aims to support development of independent, inquisitive researches leading programmes in biomedical sciences in the future. Students are supported and mentored by academics with excellent research track record, and inspired to independence as well as tutored in novel experimental methodologies. We are committed to a fully inclusive and evolving DTP programme that responds to the input of students and their requirements to succeed. Our DTP trains students in key research themes, enabling collaborative discovery science, working across disciplines and the NHS clinical interface, with the skills to support them to become leaders in their chosen careers. We incorporate enhanced training in interdisciplinary, transferable and entrepreneurial skills to give students the employment flexibility to meet the challenges of a wide variety of scientific, research-aligned or related careers. Our MRC DTP allows us to create a foundation for a confident, self-supportive cohort of students who guide our DTP development plans.
